Help Me Choose the Right Comfee Air Conditioner
Whether you're cooling a small bedroom or a spacious open-plan living area, choosing the right air conditioner matters. Here’s everything you need to know before you buy.
What is a BTU and why does it matter?
BTU stands for British Thermal Unit: it’s a way of measuring how much cooling (or heating) power an air conditioner has. The higher the BTU, the larger the space it can effectively cool.
How do I calculate the BTU I need?
To find the right BTU for your space, multiply your room’s square meterage (length x width) by 600.
Example: A 20m² room needs about 12,000 BTU (20 × 600 = 12,000).
What other room factors affect the BTU I need?
Beyond size, your room’s characteristics make a difference:
- Ceiling Height: Higher ceilings = more air volume to cool
- Windows: Big windows or lots of sun-facing glass increase the heat load
- Insulation: Poor insulation means you’ll need more cooling power
- Appliances & People: Kitchens, electronics, or many occupants add heat too
If in doubt, always size up rather than down.
What’s the difference between Fixed Speed and Inverter aircons?
Fixed Speed
Always runs at full power
Can be louder and less efficient
Lower upfront cost
Great for occasional use
Inverter
Adjusts power to maintain set temp
Quieter and more energy-efficient
Higher upfront cost, but lower running costs
Best for regular use or larger spaces
